Working from the home (WFH) as a PHOTOGRAPHER

Prasenjeet Gautam

As we all are suffering through the COVID pandemic, compelled ourselves to work from home. Sometimes doing things without our interest become our first priority for our life, family etc. We all know that there is no way out, we have to suffer, cop up with this situation. One of the topmost priorities that we have to protect ourselves from this covid virus as we know that one infection can pull all the family members into an infection, that’s the dangerous factor of the pandemic situation.

Now, This article is for only the photographers. When you are suffering through the lockdown situation and you have to work from the home then you need to follow these tips to utilise your free time for a more productive time. Sometimes free time is a treasure because it teaches you a lot about your bright future.
Let’s follow these tips

  • Write down all the necessary things to do ( Learning, reading, watching videos, writing blogs, marketing emails, photography tips, explore new ideas etc) and convert them into time table/discipline and how would you add all those important things to your photography business.
  • Set your working hours/days and never give this timing to watching TV, listening to music, gossiping, playing with children etc Like no distractions at all
  • Choose your dress code, never work in the casuals spacially Bermudas, half paint, etc which kills your office feeling.
  • Follow all the written things and finish before the timing like marketing emails, blogging, post-processing skills, a phone call to your new/old clients etc
  • Must add reading photography books in your schadule
  • Must watch photography videos, those increase your knowledge and improve your photography skills.
  • Must watch technical videos based on the camera body, lens, accessories, post-processing etc. Which help you to know more about your photography kit.
  • Must interact with photography teachers, clients through video calls etc
  • Explore your weaknesses and convert them into your strength, that’s very important.
  • Work on your communication skills if lacking, join some online classes for improving your communication skills
  • Work on writing skills and must improve to get good business enquiries
  • Must redesign your website, add new photographs to your website, must post all the important literature on all the social media platforms.
  • Explore other photography genres to fetch some good business enquiries.
  • Shoot inside the home, balcony if find some interesting and post
  • This is the electronic world, must increase your photography website ranking on google, yahoo, bing etc. This help to bring good business enquiry.
  • Must use all your electronic devices with full of care especially your laptop, mobile, printer, camera etc because in the lockdown situation you don’t find any good technician to repair your all devices. keep it in the safe mode.
  • Do not consider lockdown as a FAMILY HOLIDAY, It’s a situation and must treat cautiously, must follow all the required safety protection.
  • last but not the least, Eat less, sleep less, do exercise otherwise extra weight can make you lazier and fatty and this will be a big problem. Being a photographer we need to be fit and active at all the time.

Conclusion – Few situations are out of control sometimes but controlling ourselves may control all the good and bad situations. I am sure one day we will win this situation over the pandemic. Good luck to all. Stay in and stay safe.

Keep experimenting! have a wonderful and happy photography life to you all.
