Give Some Time to the Frame Without the Camera

Prasenjeet Gautam

Great framing and bad framing plays a major role to create an interesting story for the viewers, It is purely the photographer’s responsibility to create an interesting framing, What is inside the photograph is called framing, whatever content you capture, how do you compose the content in the framing and once captured the shot then what does it speaks to your viewers, Does your photographs really convey the strong message. How long your viewers stay on your photographs. That exercise altogether required for better photography

Let’s discuss, how we can improve the framing to deliver stunning photographs to the viewers/clients etc

Use your creative hands– There is no need to take out your camera and shoot to know the framing content. Convert your hands into framing style (see above-posted hand image – Image Courtesy Google) and observe all the contents that are coming in your hand frames. Give lots of try to your hand to choose the perfect framing, change location and repeat this exercise. Every time you have to observe the best content covering that convey a strong message to your viewers. The renowned photographer, the film director uses their hands before they capture the shoot or records. If possible must watch the making of any film that will help you to understand. hands are the perfect tool for framing. Isn’t

Use mobile – If you are not comfortable using your hands for framing purpose then there another option is available and that is your smartphone. Before you take out your DSLR camera, take 5-6 shot from your mobile camera and observe the best content covered framing. This is really a good option and always help you to choose better framing for your DSLR shot. TRY it, I hope you will find the difference between your current and previous photography shots. Believe me.

Live view mode – Last but not least, It all depends upon your comfort level of photography. If nothing works then live view mode is the best option to set your framing. The live view mode always helps you to reveal all the content covered in the framing. Use the live view option once your camera is fixed on your tripod, change the angle, change the tripod length, try for low angle shot etc to get a better framing.

Conclusion – Better framing means better content covered for the viewers to stay long on your photographs.

Keep experimenting! Have wonderful and happy photography life to you all
