Observation pays you always!

Prasenjeet Gautam

Whenever a photographer captures stunning, excellent, amazing photographs. What are the reasons behind these mind-blowing images? There are predictable answers as always we have like these, high-end camera and expensive lense, expensive accessories, professional photographer’s long time experiences etc. We always try to find out the reasons for better photographs.

Every photographer has their own opinion about taking better photographs. But every pro and experienced photographer has a strong observation quality before shooting the subject. Observation is a strong backbone for creative photography. A strong observation creates a difference between normal and captivating photographs. A difference between well-developed and underdeveloped photographs. A difference between highly communicating and no communicating photographs.

How a photographer can develop an observation quality in his photography career for capturing better or stunning photographs. Let follow few important tips to create a strong observation quality for becoming a better photographer.

Keep practising – Practice give you more noticing, analyzing power to correct your photography. Shoot one subject with different angles and analyze which communicate a better message to you and find out the answer WHY. Keep correcting the photographs and try to add a more interesting element and discarding the errors based on your observation.

Start reading the photographs/ad campaign/poster etc – Whenever you are travelling by trains, bus, air etc you must notice the advertisement surrounding that public location. You must notice their best and worst point of photography, what hold you for long and what disturb you in their catalogue, posted, leaflet, outdoor media etc.

Location observation – While travelling to a different location, must have a habit to notice the location and their weather condition, it’s better to maintain a diary of your local locations. Whenever shooting models, vehicles, products etc You must know in advance about which location will suits your subject efficiently. This habit really works in a professional career.

Movies – You must have a habit to watch the famous film of any language and must notice or observe their filming or framing like how they capture their subject interestingly to communicate a better message with the odeons. Try to understand their creativity, ideas etc

Conclusion – Keep your eyes open always to observe things around you, how can you add an interesting element into your photography, these interesting things can be outdated tailor machines, latest electronic gadgets, mindblowing fashion outfit or outdated fashion trend, changing weather condition, second sunset, architectural building, monument etc. There are endless creative things that always exist in the environment, you only need to notice the things to add to your photography life and career. Good luck
