Lightroom Vs Photoshop Software?

Prasenjeet Gautam

All beginner photographers, hobbyists, and students always keep on asking what the difference is between Lightroom (LR) and Photoshop (PS). When the editing can be done in both software successfully then the other one is in the queue to operate or edit. The most confusing question is why both the software is designed by the same software company called ADOBE. Even which software tools are better for editing, creatives, designing etc?

Let's discuss both the software in short. Accordingly, as per your need, you can choose the software to work with.

Lightroom is designed only for photo editing and organising bigger sizes images. It allows you to correct your images with the help of adjusting exposure, tone, colours, and basic object removal. Also, you can save your editing setting as preset and can apply for all the remaining or the same content photographs to edit correctly and fastly. It is also known as superfast editing software and serves you all the intelligent editing tools. It always takes care of arranging, organising, and filtering based on adding keywords, metadata, and tags and including uncompressed RAW images straight from a camera. Also, helps with lens correction, auto adjustment etc. Which is all time intelligent editing tool for all professional photographers. LR helps you to import all your uncompressed raw images and start editing in the same layout and export in any of your desired files ext like Jpegs, and PNGs, with no extra effort, required. Complete user-friendly software for photographers. Lightroom creates a new file every time you edit a picture, meaning that your original images are never lost (unless you purposefully delete them).

Photoshop is also a powerful software designed for graphic designers and illustrators. Designers choose this software to create something unique designs for their clients, ad campaigns etc. Designers add and edit the image, by adding new layers, new themes, new text, and new content to create one focus story. PS is the one software which is quite complex and takes too much time and patience to learn and deliver results. It also gives you one small tool to edit your photos but it is a quite lengthy process and time-consuming process. Photoshop can't edit RAW images, but it does have the camera raw plugin through which you can edit them to import them into the program but it is just a normal editing plugin. Also, photoshop offers a much broader frame from digital art to 3D artwork and not just for the photos as we heard rumours. It Serves you all the best manipulation tools as per your desire.

It depends upon your wish list, which is your requirement. If you are looking for a better photography level then Lightroom is your software. If you are looking for a better future in digital artwork then Photoshop is your software. Please choose wisely.

Keep experimenting! Have wonderful and happy photography life to you all
