Few better tips for Wildlife Photography

Prasenjeet Gautam

Wildlife photography is an absolutely UNPREDICTABLE photography genre, which is out of your imagination, out of your control and sometimes it is risky also. Managing all your photography equipment + handling safety features + Photography creatives and technicality + photographer knowledge + Animal behaviour etc. These all efforts produce one better image or stunning photographs for your viewers. Whereas few things never exist in other photography genres.

There are few important tips, which always contribute better to your wildlife photography. Wildlife photography demand photographer’s better requirement and arrangement. If the photographer loses any required thing and action then he may lose/skip the entire wildlife photography.

Let’s discuss the few basic important tips before anybody plan to shoot wildlife

Less but correct photography kit – We must carry a better lens, better camera body and avoid unnecessary photography kit which increases your responsibility. Choose your gear wisely to shoot wildlife. Carrying too many accessories will make you tired, confuse you with which accessories to choose to shoot or which will shoot an amazing shot etc.

Play with lights – Must notice the different light condition and compose the shot with the different light, Here you must know how to play with lights. It does not matter that you are capturing common or rare species etc but light may help you to capture your common species into an amazing shot. See the above-posted image. Monkey with evening light.

Eye-Level – Must shoot the animal at their eye level, not according to your eye level, I assure you will get better communicating photographs. Most of the time you struggle a lot to capture an animal’s eye level because there is no way out. If you skip their eye level and capture from eye-level then there are 100% chances to spoil your photographs. See the above-posted photograph, Red-Painted Stork. India

Collect Good Photographs, Not storage – I have seen a few amateur photographers, who keep on pressing the shutter button to capture one photograph without putting their efforts into framing, lights, composition etc. Resultant they carry unnecessary storage and save it for a long duration. Press the shutter button when you are convinced otherwise you will end up with a corrupt camera sensor and will pay the heavy bills to repair the camera sensor. Please shoot quality, not quantity.

Keep experimenting, Have a wonderful & happy photography life to you all.
