Better Tips to shoot ARCHITECTURAL

Prasenjeet Gautam

One of the interesting genres to shoot, ARCHITECTURAL photography. Where the photographer can add something great visualisation to the historical monument, architectural building etc for the viewers and new generation. But one needs to understand and know about the architectural building and what it speaks to others and what a creative photographer can add creative content to convey more strong message to the viewers. Lots of people think that capturing building is quite easy because they do not moves and there are no chances to shake the images, out of focus, blurred etc.

But I must tell those people that photographer spend lots of time, energy to capture mind-blowing shots and building also speak lounder than words if they captured beautifully.

Let’s discuss the few important tips to shoot architectural building beautifully.

Explore creative or conventional angle– Do your homework before landing at the architectural site. The building looks almost the same in all the common angles in the photographs. Now you have to work on that creative angle that can serve a wow factors in your photographs to your viewers. That’s your winning skill. Otherwise you all efforts can be nominal.

Thinks out of the box – Explore the textures, leading lines, wide angles, shadows, highlights, and some close shots of the building pillars, roof, etc to capture different shots. I tell you one important thing If you closely observe the building you might have explored the hidden beauty of the building also. that decide your capability.

Choose different weather– If you are looking for creative outlook of the building then plan your shoot sometimes in the different weather condition when hardly people visit the monument, architectural building or sometimes you are planning to shoot the exterior of your client’s company or plant. But avoid raining season if you are shooting alone because even a single water drop can spoil your camera’s sensor and it is not a good deal at all. In any weather condition, you need to have perfect photography kit along with few assistants.

Night shots – Every architectural building is well equipped with creative light management. Every photographer must have planned to shoot in night condition too. Night shots always give out of the box shot if you are capable of handling your camera in the night. To avoid shaking photographes you must have a strong tripod to shoot. Take written permission in case you carrying tripod to shoot monuments (read my previous blog)

Use people in the photograph – Sometimes you do not get the empty space near the architectural building, in this case, you must know to add people to the photographs so that photographs must speak better. I must tell you that adding human can uplift the weightage of the photographs. See the below-posted

Conclusion- Maybe according to the some people that building does not have energy but adding photography to the building can give full of energy to your viewers. All the best

Keep experimenting and Have wonderful & Happy photography life to you all.
