Basics of Wildlife Photography

The word WILDLIFE Sound very adventurous to beginners, mobile, hobbyists and even pro photographers too, who have not chosen this wildlife genre. Now, why does this genre look very adventurous? The answer is quite interesting and easy because It is close to nature, animals and different life experiences where life is peaceful even without urban facilities. Many beginner photographers avoid this genre because of its expensive nature like expensive zoom lenses, travelling and safari expenses, accommodations and food etc. this hidden obstacle always stops them to choose this genre. Here, I would like to mention that they are right at their point. Beginner photographers are mostly young and living life with their pocket money and for them managing all these expenses is a very tough job. I am writing this article specially for them and how this small article may help them to shoot wildlife animals.

Important Information - Wildlife photography does not mean shooting only tigers, elephants, snakes, lions etc. You can shoot deer, nilgai, and common birds like peacocks, parrots, hummingbirds etc. Please do not have this opinion, If the lions/tigers are not shot then I am not a wildlife photographer. Every beginner photographer started from the common species and then become a famous wildlife photographer. Let's start with the small steps.

Follow a few Important tips

• Start with the current photography kit to gain some wildlife photography experience
• Explore the nearest wildlife national park, bird sanctuary etc (Same day return journey, save all your travelling cost)
• Start shooting with the common species, sometimes common species can give you mind-blowing shots. See the above-posted photograph of the cow. It was standing in the rain, winter weather.
• Learn how to be kept quiet shooting birds, the smallest noises can make birds fly away
• Keep coming to the same locations for a better experience
• Once you are done with the good confidence and experience then get a zoom lens on a rent basis and visit the same location to shoot the same species and then compare the shot. you will find better results. I did the same activity. This will groom you as a better photographer.
• Never invest in the kit until or unless you are confident to shoot wildlife like a pro photographer.
• Never buy any photography lens without having good shooting experience with the same lens. Always take the experience with the rented lens and other photography accessories.
• You can start with Zoo. This will help you to understand the animal behaviour.

Conclusion - Always choose the nearest location to shoot. this will always save your time and travelling expenses. You can keep coming to the same location for better photography experiences.
